Thankful [day 2]
[Thankful for Jesus]
I am thankful for the cross I am thankful for my savior I am thankful for new life in Christ I am thankful for you, Lord
These are the words we sing in the chorus of “Thankful.” These are words that I want to live by; always being thankful for Jesus. To truly be thankful, we must remember who Jesus is and what He has done.
Who is Jesus? What has He done for us?
Jesus is the son of God. He is 100% God, yet 100% man. He came to Earth and lived a sinless life. He was then put to death on a cross and died a death that we as sinners deserve. He did this to glorify God and become the sacrifice that we needed. He paid the price for our sin that we deserved to pay. Jesus became the sacrifice for you and for me. When we accept and believe what Jesus did for us, we can live forgiven and with the hope that we will live with God for eternity. We are made new and fully redeemed, all because of Jesus.
He doesn't ask us to “clean up” beforehand. He doesn't require a certain amount of good deeds before helping us. He offers grace to broken people and simply asks us to believe in Him.
"because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. "
Romans 10:9
Scripture Reading:
Philippians 2:8-10
8And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
John 1:16
For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
John 3:16-17
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
John 5:24
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
