Thankful [day 3]

[Never Forget The Cross]

What consumes your mind? What are the things that grab your attention?  We live in a culture that is constantly pulling our focus to different directions. There are so many things screaming for our attention. A lot of these things may be great things like family, work, or school. Yet some things are not fruitful or helpful to us and don’t deserve our attention. Either way our attention is pulled to, it can be so easily diverted by the world we live in. It is easy for us to fix our eyes on worldly things and forget those that really matter. So, what does really matter? What should fill our mind

The challenge today is simple - remember Jesus and what He has done on the cross. Through all the noise of life, we must make a conscious effort to remember this. When we remember and constantly reflect on the Gospel, we stay thankful and committed. When our attention drifts to worldly things, we will, inevitably, act worldly. When our eyes remain fixed on Jesus, we will become more like Him. So today, no matter your situation, age, or season of life, never forget what Jesus has done for you. Never forget His kindness, His love, His mercy, and His promises. Whether you are new to following Jesus or you have been walking with Him for decades, never forget His sacrifice on the cross. That is what we must fill our minds with; Him and His word.

Jesus has done great things for you. He is with you, sustaining you now. He will continue to walk with you and He has great plans for your life. Remember Him, and thank Him daily.

Scripture Reading:

Philippians 2:7-11

7but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,3 being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Isaiah 53:4-5

4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5  But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

Philippians 1:6

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 12:1-2

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Prayer Guide:

Thank Jesus for His sacrifice on the cross. Thank Him for what He has done, what He is doing, and what He will do in your life. Ask God to help keep your mind and attention on Him. Commit to the Lord to worship Him daily.
