Worthy

You’re worthy of all my praise

Your mercy and grace never end

My Jesus, you’ve overcome my sin

You’ve rescued me, you’ve brought me in

The song “Worthy” is an exaltation to God for what He has done for us. As we sing this song, we are lifting high the name of Jesus and remembering how He has rescued and redeemed us. This song tells the story of how even from the beginning of time, God knew us and knew the sin we would have in our lives, yet He still paid the price for those sins. Through his death on the cross, we are now offered the free gift of free salvation. This is one of the many reasons Jesus is worthy of our praise.

Merriam Webster describes the word worthy as “having or showing the qualities or abilities that merit recognition in a specified way.” There are so many things that God has done that makes Him worthy of our recognition and continual praise. What is something that He has done for you? Maybe it was a big miracle or maybe it was something on a smaller scale. I like to often reflect on how God has moved and worked in my life. Sometimes it is hard to realize what the Lord has done for me in the moment, but when I take time to think of the Lord’s goodness I always find a reason to praise him.One of the things I am always reminded of is the salvation I have in Jesus. He loves and forgives me even though I don’t deserve it. I love the bridge to this song because it’s a celebration of the salvation found in Jesus.

You have saved me now with your grace and power

I’m forgiven, I’m forgiven

You have changed my life I am new in Christ

I’m forgiven, I’m forgiven

Once we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, we are made new and are forever changed. We are forgiven of our sins and covered by His grace. Jesus is worthy of all honor, praise, and glory all of the time. Sometimes we simply need to be reminded to give Him the praise He deserves! Take time today to reflect on all that God has done for you or carried you through, and praise Him for it!

Scripture Reading:

Titus 3:3-7

3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. 4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, but the washing and regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior, 7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

1 Chronicles 16:25

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be held in awe above all gods.

Prayer Guide:

Take a moment right now to reflect on the things that the Lord has done for you. Maybe He was with you in a hard situation or has given you the courage to do something out of the ordinary. Reflect on the price He paid to offer us salvation. Pray and start with thanksgiving and praise. When we come to God with a posture of thanksgiving and praise, it is amazing what He can do!
